A Unique Time Display

The FFC, inspired by a prototype for Only Watch 2021, features a unique time display using an animated hand with moving fingers. This concept originated from a conversation between François-Paul Journe and filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola in 2012, where Coppola suggested displaying hours by counting on fingers, as done in ancient times.
François-Paul designed a mechanism to translate this idea into digital signs, drawing inspiration from a prosthetic hand designed by Renaissance surgeon Ambroise Paré. The final hand, made of engraved titanium to minimize weight and energy consumption, animates the 12-hour digits with five fingers. This innovative design is powered by the Octa 1300.3 caliber, ensuring efficient energy use and precise timekeeping. The FFC exemplifies the blend of historical inspiration and modern horological innovation.
